Grab Some Gears

Every couple of months I post about my book on the social media sites that I use. It’s the only way I have these days to advertise my book to car enthusiasts who may be interested in reading it. Most of the people who see my posts on social media are at least somewhat of a fan of beautiful performance cars, or some of the other things that are meaningful to me as well.

Anyone interested in the life of a car guy, can find my book, and read some sample pages, just follow this link: Grab Some Gears

Heartland

Father’s Day over the weekend had me thinking about my dad. He has been gone over 30 years now, and only lived to the age of 67. He had a hard life.

Anyone familiar with the “Heartland”  television series might have an appreciation for the type of life he lived, and the kind of culture I grew up in. My dad was a lifelong farmer and rancher in the plains of southwestern South Dakota. Many of the same types of family drama that happened in the Heartland series, was a familiar part of our family story as well, . . except . , not as much about horses for us. I was more interested in the vehicles rather than the horses (there is a Heartland episode that addresses that also).

The years have gone by now, my grandfather has been gone for 50 years, my dad for over 30, and the farm sold 10 years ago. Now all just part of my memories. I love watching the Heartland television series, it brings back so many memories of my past. I think it’s one of the best shows of all time.

Finally Friday

Sometimes you have one of those weeks when you’re glad it’s finally Friday. Busy days of taking care of business, plenty of appointments, and handling all the health and fitness issues that have to fit into the hot weather arriving. That’s been my experience this past week.

In our part of the country, we are already into the 100 degree days. It will be around 80 degrees when I get my morning walk in before the sun pops up over the eastern horizon. It’s all fine, but requires some adjustment to fit everything into the daily schedule. Fun times. Glad it’s finally Friday.

For anyone interested, check out my book. You can find it on amazon.com , and read some sample pages, just follow this link: Grab Some Gears
