One in a Million

I’ve wrote about this before in this blog, and mentioned it in other posts often. Those of you who also are true car enthusiasts will surely agree with this observation.  If we own and drive any kind of specialty car, we are literally “one in a million”  when we drive it down the streets.

All we have to do is observe the millions of other vehicles people drive these days, to realize that most of them are just a transportation appliance, and to most of the other drivers out there, that’s all they will ever be.

My vehicles are special to me, and that's especially true of all the performance cars I have owned over the years. These days, when I drive my Mustang around town, or on a road trip, I am well aware that the car I love and enjoy driving, is literally “one in a million”.

Time Machine

With all the TV shows, movies, and books, that have been about this subject, I'm sure the thought has ran across our minds.  What would a time machine do for us, if one existed? The possibilities are endless, as all of the books and movies have presented to us hundreds of times. Some of those thoughts ran through my mind again today as I contemplated this blog post.

If I had a time machine today, and just went back 10 years ago, would we, back then, believe some of the things that are happening in the world we live in today?  The current state of the world health, social, and political, situations would be hard to believe, even just 10 years ago. Though I would like to believe that my ideals, as a life-long car guy, have remained unchanged.  Today, as I take a hard look back at my plans for the future, just 10 years ago, I think even those things have seen change too.

I still have a nice Mustang in my garage, and I enjoy driving it every chance I get. But our main daily driver is a 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid suv.  After almost three months of ownership, I have to say, I do like this vehicle as a daily driver. I guess we never know what the future may hold.

The Legendary Cobra

I’ve been a car guy for as long as I can remember.  I grew up on a farm, and I started driving all kinds of vehicles from a very young age.  There have been various machines that have caught my interest from time to time.  As I became a teenager, performance cars became the center of my attention.  When the first Mustangs came into the picture, I became a fan for life.

No matter what cars caught my attention over the years, there has been one particular car that was at the top of my list as the greatest of all time, from the first time I ever heard of it. I’m talking about the legendary 427 Cobra.  For several years, the only ones I ever saw were on the pages of magazines, or on a TV or movie screen.  The first one I ever saw in person, was on the streets of Phoenix, when I was first married, and serving in the Air Force, in 1970. That was years before the first kit-cars or replica cobras ever appeared.

Many years have passed since those times, but the legendary 427 Cobra still tops my list as my favorite car of all time.
