How Many Years

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been thinking about how many years have passed since I first got into this car hobby. It’s been over 60 years now, and a lot of things have changed in that time. The younger generation now doesn’t have the same interest in cars as most of my generation did all those years ago. It was a major part of my life story as I became old enough to drive. Young people today have many different things on their mind, other than the cars they drive.

My book covers a lot of things other than the car culture over all those years. Check it out, you might find you have some of the same experiences in your life. Anyone interested can find my book, just follow this link: Grab Some Gears

Fantastic Future

We often wonder what the future will be like. What changes are coming to the type of life we are living now. We have our fears of certain world conditions growing worse in the coming years, but we also have our hopes of the changes for the better that the future might bring our way.

This past week, I saw an interesting AI image on social media, of what the 2030 Mustang might look like. It looks very good to me, and made me wonder how close this might be to what the future cars will really look like. It sparked my imagination of what this future Mustang could be like.  Maybe a hybrid powered car, with over 500 horsepower, and capable of over 50 miles per gallon?  Keep the dreams alive, it might become a reality.   A beautiful image anyway.

Sunday Best

As the days go by, we find ourselves going through another Shelby Sunday again. That always brings up some special memories from my automotive history.  One of the greatest cars I’ve ever owned, was also the only Shelby Mustang I ever had, and that car will always have a special place in my heart.

Like I’ve mentioned before in this blog, that beautiful 2007 Shelby GT 500 was a special car. Every time I drove it was more than just a routine drive. It attracted attention from the other drivers who saw us on the streets and highways, where ever we went. Especially the automotive enthusiasts who knew exactly what the car was.  It was a Shelby Mustang , and always looked it’s Sunday Best.

New Day

No matter what life throws our way, we do our best to work through it, and do what has to be done to handle the problems that come our way. Keep on going, handle the stress, tomorrow is a new day.

The world we live in these days is always throwing something into our lives that we have to deal with, and adding to the stress of life. Just when we get one issue taken care of, something new comes along. It’s a never ending process.

I always try to find something to look forward to. Something I enjoy doing that helps me handle the stress and keep me motivated.  A little time with my car is a great distraction. Tomorrow is a new day.

Shelby Sunday

This week Shelby Sunday is also Saint Patrick’s Day, so I had to find a way to put them together.  What better way than to find an appropriate green Shelby. This one is a very nice looking Mustang.

I have not always liked the green on every Mustang model over the years, but lately I’ve found many pictures that I like, and some are of older models that I never fully appreciated before. But, I liked this newer model the first time I saw it.

Throwback Thursday

Today is “Throwback Thursday”  for many of us who post our favorite old car photos on social media. Sometimes it’s just an example of past car models that we admire, or wish we could have owned, and sometimes it is an example of one of the best we had in years gone by. That’s the case for me today.

The car model I’m posting here today is a 1970 Ford Torino Cobra, in the same color as the one I owned over 30 years ago.  The Torino Cobras were a beautiful body style in those years, and powered by a legendary 429 Cobra-Jet V8.  I ran mine on the drag strip, and in many street races, back in those days. It’s still one of my favorite muscle cars of the many I've owned over the years.

1970 Torino Cobra, like the one I used to own.

Songs of Life

From an early age, I’ve always been a music lover. It started with a summer I spent living with my grandparents when I was 12 years old.  I heard the neighbor girls playing the popular music outside on their radios, and fell in love with it. To this day, it is still some of my favorite music.  Like the Patsy Cline hits, and the early Four Seasons songs.   A few years later, it was the car songs that were some of my favorites, as I started driving and became the car guy that I still am today.

Now there are many more emotional songs that I love to listen to, and have stronger meaning in this modern life we live in today. Like “The Dance” by Garth Brooks, or “One More Day” by Diamond Rio. And there are still many long time favorites like; “Don’t Let The Sun Catch You Crying” by Gerry and the Pacemakers, or “Last Song” by Edward Bear.   I listen to many, almost every night on YouTube.
